Flooding may seem like a distant nightmare that will never affect you but the risk is probably a lot higher than you think. 1 in 6 properties in England are at risk of flooding and it is not just people located near the sea or rivers that can be affected. Burst water pipes and heavy rainfall are both common flood causes and can happen virtually anywhere.
Back in 2007, England was devastated by floods, with Gloucester being particularly affected and thousands of people being evacuated from their homes. People lost valuables and suffered huge damage to their properties. There were scenes of trees and cars floating down flooded streets as people feared for their lives and then faced a long and very inconvenient process to get their life back to normal.
Once a home has been flooded, before any repairs can be made the house needs to be completely dried out which can take a long time even with specialist equipment. Then there is also the prospect that your home may be further impacted by sewage damage. Repair work can take months if not even longer depending on the extent of the damage and the contractors employed by the insurance company. Replacing your valuables can also be a lengthy task and in many cases you may have irreplaceable items.
All in all, it’s fair to say that flooding has devastating effects and your life will be turned upside down. This is why it is vital that your insurance company offers a great service, as when you need them to it will be down to them to minimise the pain and inconvenience caused to you. Having your home flooded could be the most traumatic thing you ever experience in your life so make sure that you are with a company that you trust to take care of your home.
If you have to be re-housed you want to know that this will happen promptly and in a standard of property that you will be comfortable in. You want a company that will make sure you have all the support that you need to get through the experience and the manner and empathy of the staff will probably make more of a difference than you would ever believe. Should you have to go through the experience, make sure that it is with an insurance company that will deliver an outstanding service and who will repair your home as quickly as possible and to an excellent level of quality.
Specialist flood insurance companies have the necessary experience to ensure that you are well looked after in the event of a flood. Compare quotes today to get a great deal and set your mind at rest.

If you are setting up a transportation company, getting Lorry Insurance is obviously going to be of concern and something that you will need to make sure you buy appropriately. Setting up any company is a massive learning curve even if you have a good working knowledge of the industry before you start, making sure you have everything covered can be a bit daunting. Check out these basics to help you on your way.
Before you can purchase lorry insurance you need to have your operators licence if appropriate. This is required by anyone whose business involves them transporting any goods connected with their business that cause a vehicle to have a gross weigh in excess of 3.5 tonnes. Whilst there are some exemptions to this, it is the general rule. If you are in any doubt if this applies to you the VOSA website carries full documentation.
There are several types of vehicle that come under the umbrella of Lorry Insurance, and you must insure that any insurance company you obtain a quote from is aware of each vehicle and its type – otherwise the cover may be inappropriate.. A few examples are shown below – highlighting the difference – it is the differences that must be taken into consideration as these can impact on the premiums.
Flat Bed – Used to transport heavy consignments, the flat level open back making the loading of items easier. For example heavy machinery, construction equipment or unusual shaped abnormal loads that could not be confined to a box back lorry as they require more space.
If you have a fleet of vehicles operating for your business then insuring them in a fleet policy will clearly offer the best in premiums. No matter how many lorries you have in the business, you need to ensure that each vehicle has adequate cover in all areas. Remember that taking any vehicle out on the roads without the proper insurance is breaking the law. Police will make regular checks on transportation vehicles – from weigh bridge stoppages to tyre checks. It doesn’t matter what they choose to stop you for – your insurance will always be checked and should it be found inappropriate you could face points on your licences and fines, further action could be taken through the courts if the offence caused danger to other road users.

You will want to consider a lot of items when selecting a web design company for your business’ website. Since there is a wide range of different projects they could be doing, the cost of your particular project can range significantly. They will take your idea for a website and put it in action. You want to make sure that the web design company is on the same page as you for your vision, so that you are satisfied with the end result.
It is important to take a look at the web design company’s portfolio. A portfolio of a web design company will be able to show you some of the previous work that they have done. You will also be able to see what they are capable of doing, which may help you get some ideas of what you would like to see in your website. You will also be able to access the amount of skill that particular web design company has.
Obtain a quote from a web design company on what you need done. Most of these companies will not offer their pricing online, because there are so many different scenarios that can be put together in one project. They will need to know what has been done, if anything, on your website, as well as how you want it to look. The more information you give them in this quote will allow them to give you a better estimate on how much it would cost them to do the job for you.
Keep in mind that communication is very important with a web design company. You need to be able to give a complete explanation of your vision for your website, because a lot of time and effort is put into building this site for you. If you do not feel that the web design company does not have a complete grasp on the project you envision, talk to another. A good web design company should be able to completely understand what you need done.
Work with the web design company and set some deadlines. Once you have the vision and work set in place, they should be able to give you accurate deadlines on when the work will be completed. To be safe, you can even set multiple timelines for each portion of the job. Keep in mind that it takes a great deal of work and creativity to put together a good website, and it can’t be done overnight.

While some people go into caravan insurance DIY blindly, without any concern for the right kinds of preparation and the right kinds of tools, many choose to listen to the experts. Experts such as Tommy Walsh (Collins DIY) and Kelly Hoppen (Posh and Becks) all encourage DIY enthusiasts to research, prepare well and find the best ways to do things first. Surviving DIY Sometimes it is all a matter of survival. DIY projects, such as replacing floorboards and installing sash windows are not easy. Therefore, some recommendations are in place to make your life easier as a DIY weekend warrior. Sanding Sanding should be done with the right kind of sandpaper or sander, and the sanding should be done along the grain. This means you have to find the direction of the cambium and sand that way. If you sand across the grain, you will end up with a coarse texture that you will have redo to smoothen. DIY enthusiasts know that if you have to repeat something, you did it wrong the first time. Time is gold. Remember, you do not want to be stressed out even before you finish the DIY project. Another use for butter is… It is not true that nothing beats WD40 or monkey grease when it comes to reducing friction. Nevertheless, creaking doors, creaking windows and creaking gates can all be remedied with butter. Use butter that had already melted, and apply liberally around the creaking joints. The butter should have as little water content, and should have high fat content. Avoid overly salted butter as these could react with metal or with wood. On the use of wood If you want to install a new gate, new fences and build new shelves for your home, get the woods cut at the merchant. Some people like to saw their planks of wood themselves. While it is fine if you have an electric saw, it’s a waste of time if you are doing it manually. Cutting is almost always free at merchants, so make your measurements before you buy and have your wood pieces cut before you bring them home. Want a bigger room? If you want a room to look bigger than it really is, but you do not need extra space, do not knock down the walls yet. You heard us right; do not get that sledgehammer yet. One very simple way to make a room look bigger than it really is, is hanging a mirror. Try it for yourself and you will instantly see what we mean. Scrape the scraper Replacing old wallpapers can be tricky business. Not only have the adhesives dried completely into the wood or concrete, but often, the wallpaper just won’t give up. Some people resort to violence- with a scraper. Unfortunately, scrapers have the tendency to damage the surface below the wallpaper. Paint, wood and concrete come along with the old wallpaper. In cold countries such as the United Kingdom, depleted walls are never good things. What is the solution? Hire a steamer machine and use it to tear the wallpaper naturally from the wall.
Get top tips from Sarah Beeny, Kelly Hoppen and Kevin McCloud Create fabulous room schemes every time – it’s easier than you think. Just use the tricks of the trade – secret techniques designers employ to give any room the ‘wow’ factor. Create a focal point Every room needs an eye-catching feature, but for maximum style you don’t want it to be the TV. It’s easy if your living room has a fireplace, but if not, create an attention-grabbing alternative, such as a console table. Add a display of framed photographs above it to make a focal point that you can position the sofas around, or if you don’t have the time to find and frame your photos, a selection of decorative plates will look just as striking. Sarah Beeny says ‘I always advise people who are improving properties to give the living space a focal point. It’s a vital part of the room scheme, creating a visual treat when people walk into a room’ Add sparkle and light Interior designers use mirrored and glass surfaces to create a sparkle that’s subtle, not bling. Mirrors hung at right angles to windows reflect the natural light and brighten the whole room. Likewise, glass tables and chrome detailing add great highlights. Continue the same understated but upscale feel with a few small reflective accessories. If mirrors aren’t your thing, create the same subtle sheen with mother of pearl. Kelly Hoppen says ‘I often use mirrors and glass surfaces to add a sense of depth to a room. They also play with light in interesting ways, and give a room a lovely airy feel’ Use An Accent colour Adding an accent colour or two will give your room a stunning finish. You don’t need to add much – just a few accessories, a throw, or a piece of furniture like this footstool. Overall your accent colour should be no more than 10% of your total scheme. Scared of going over the top? Even candles and flowers will be enough to give the room a really professional finish. Don’t forget that accents don’t have to be strong – just choose a tone that will stand out Keving McLeod says ‘Choose an accent colour with impact if you want to add energy to the room – my heart sings when I see magenta or orange being used’

Tragically, thousands of dogs are abandoned every year. It is estimated that there could be as many as a 100,000 dogs seeking new homes in UK rescue shelters right now.
The people behind the DogsBlog.com website, specialist pet publishing company K9 Media Ltd, are keen to expand on the early success of the service, which is totally free to use for dog seekers and charities, and are in talks to take the concept worldwide.
Ryan O’Meara, editor in chief at K9 Magazine, came up with the concept for DogsBlog concept in the late 1990′s after watching popular animal rescue TV shows.
“I used to be fascinated with shows such as Pet Rescue where they would have a special appeal for a dog who had been looking for a home for years. At the end of each episode they would profile the dog and then the next day they would always ask people to stop calling because they’d had thousands of enquiries. This really amazed me because I always used to think, if there are thousands of people who wanted this dog, where were they for the past years whilst he’s been looking for a new home?”
A virtual window into the world of shelter dogs
“It dawned on me that it wasn’t the fault of the people who wanted to adopt a dog, it was simply a case that there was no way of just being able to quickly see all the different dogs looking for new homes unless you physically started to visit all the rescue centres one by one.
I was passionate that a service where all the dogs could be showcased in one location would be well received. I also knew that for every single person thinking about getting a dog, somewhere in a rescue centre would be that person’s perfect pet. It just so happened that in 2007 and the popularity of blogging, we were finally able to join up all the loose ends. Thankfully it’s worked superbly for all concerned.”
The Blue Cross, one of the charities involved with DogsBlog, is only too clear on the positive impact of the website: “The more people who see these dogs then the better chance they have of finding a home with a loving family. Prospective dog owners spend time looking at the site and can fall in love with the dog of their dreams”
Dog lovers agree.
Celebrity home improvement expert Linda Barker said of DogsBlog.com
“It really helps the new owner decide on the right dog for their circumstances in the comfort of their own home. This is how dog ownership should always start, what a fabulous service for the animal loving public who are wanting to adopt!”
A new feature for the site and one set to grow larger in 2008 is the addition of YouTube hosted videos of dogs looking for new owners.
DogsBlog co-founder Kim Bruce believes this extra innovation can get even more dogs into new homes:
“We launched DogsBlog.com to try and utilise the popularity of blog style websites, their ease of use and the user friendly way in which they allow information to presented and searched. It seemed a logical next step to add to this the popularity of videos and as it is now so simple to capture a short piece of video footage and broadcast it to a worldwide audience, we decided to experiment with a few small videos of dogs in shelters. The response was incredible with new homes being found literally within a day or two. Next year we will certainly be expanding this service.”
It is the first website of its kind to unite so many dog welfare charities all under the same roof at the same time, which enables users to simply find the dog of their dreams without worrying about having to go from charity to charity.
Users can search for dogs by age, breed type, geographic location or even by a range of character traits such as dogs that are good with children, dogs who like cats or dogs who would be suitable to perform jobs of work.
As the site moves forward the aim is to assist more dog owners who are having troubles with their pets and are considering the possibility of rehoming them. DogsBlog.com has partnered with D.A.P (Dog Appeasing Pheromone) with the aim of offering support, advice and a solution for owners who are struggling with their dog’s behaviour. The partnership with D.A.P is also good news for those people who adopt a dog from a rehoming shelter as they can greatly assist dogs during the often stressful initial settling in period as the synthetic copy of the canine appeasing pheromone is clinically proven to comfort and reassure puppies and adult dogs alike to help them adapt to a new home.
DogsBlog.com, a shining example of modern methods and modern dog expertise helping to fight the age old problem helping homeless dogs find new, loving owners.

Those who are interested in a dog of a particular age, sex or breed can easily find what they are looking for on the site and because it casts the net wider that just the local area, more dogs have a chance of being adopted. The site provides shelters another valuable way in getting their dogs re-homed with the right kind of families. It’s an excellent idea and I wish it every success.”
Claire King, Actress
“A good idea, the more dogs who can be united with the right families for them, the better. I think the best thing about owning a dog is the fact that it makes you a more responsible person because you have someone else to look after who can’t look after themselves and you are responsible for their welfare.”

“As a dog lover and someone who has re-homed dogs in the past, I think Dogsblog.com is a fantastic initiative. It will allow more dogs to find new homes and be united with loving owners, which can only be a good thing.”

Netstep has extended its financial client base and announced that it has been appointed by private medical specialists Exeter Friendly Society. Netstep has been commissioned to launch Exeter Friendly Society’s brand new “Go Private” service online and to provide an accompanying online marketing strategy.
Go Private is a new UK service from the Exeter Friendly Society which promotes private medial insurance to a younger, more mainstream audience than its current market. This is a new direction for Exeter Friendly Society and it has put the internet at the heart of the marketing strategy.
Visitors to the site will be able to obtain an instant quote for a range of medical insurance services online as well as download literature relating to all the company’s policies.
Linda Barker – Product Manager at Exeter Friendly Society commented,
“Netstep was recommended to us by TD Waterhouse so our expectations were high. We were impressed by Netstep’s pedigree in providing online solutions to the financial services sector and we are very much looking forward to Go Private becoming a successful brand in its own right”
Barry Mills – MD at Netstep said,
“The Go Private project was a totally new direction for the Exeter Friendly Society making it an interesting and challenging contract for Netstep. The target audience for their new product is younger and more internet aware so therefore the whole marketing strategy revolves around intelligent targeting online”.

About Exeter Friendly Society
Exeter Friendly Society was formed in 1927, to provide for members of the public who, at the time, did not have easy access to hospitals or other medical care.
We have continued to grow and prosper and, whilst only representing approximately 0.5% of the total medical insurance market in the UK, we very much have our own niche.
As a friendly society we have no shareholders, so all surpluses are used to improve service and benefits for our members. This, together with our policy of not increasing premiums when you reach certain age-bands, makes us unique.
We are proud of our history and our financial stability, but we do not stand still and are continuously reviewing our product range to ensure that our plans offer the benefits and peace of mind that you need from a medical insurer. We pride ourselves that many of our new members are recommended by current members and we receive many referrals from those in the medical profession.

MORRISTOWN, NJ (PRWEB) August 30, 2003 -
Â? World-renowned sculptor and printmaker, Elizabeth Catlett, is Honoree and Guest Lecturer on Saturday, September 20, 2003, at The Morris Museum, 6 Normandy Heights Road, Morristown, NJ. The activities begin with a VIP reception at 5:00 p.m. The AT&T Foundation is sponsor of the lecture titled, A Conversation With Elizabeth Catlett that starts at 6:00 p.m., followed immediately by a public reception.
Â?We are delighted to share in bringing such a celebrated artist, Elizabeth Catlett, to Morristown,Â? said Mirian Graddick-Weir, AT&T Executive Vice President Â? Human Resources. Â?AT&T is proud of the role it plays in the community, and weÂ?re delighted to support Art in The Atrium, Inc. on this event.Â?
The Catlett lecture is a preview event leading up to celebration of Art in The Atrium, Inc.Â?s twelfth year of bringing fine art by African-Americans to Morris County when its Red Velvet Cake Exhibit opens in January 2004.
Many consider Elizabeth Catlett as one of North AmericaÂ?s most influential living artists. She recently received the 2003 Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Sculpture Center, the worldÂ?s leading international sculpture organization.
Catlett joins a unique group of world-class artists who have been recipients of this
prestigious award, including French/American Abstract Expressionist Sculptor Louise Bourgeois; Robert Rauschenberg, Pop artist who introduced the art world to what he termed “combines,” and the late George Segal, New Jersey-based sculptor, whose trademark life-size plaster casts can be seen in major museums and in public spaces throughout the country.
Catlett is recognized primarily as a sculptor, but also a printmaker and is acclaimed for both her technical brilliance and the emotional impact of her works. Born in Washington, DC, and a graduate of Howard University, CatlettÂ?s work is in the permanent collections of major museums throughout the United States, Mexico, and Europe and in private collections worldwide. A number of her sculptures and works on paper will be on exhibit at the September 20, 2003, event and for sale during her lecture from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Art in The AtriumÂ?s annual scholarship fund benefits from proceeds of any purchases of the artistÂ?s work during the event.
Art in The Atrium exhibits have grown in recognition over the years to become one of New JerseyÂ?s most important venues for showcasing fine art created by African-American artists, attracting audiences from the metropolitan area as well as from other nearby states and cities. The organization includes among its projects artists in the schools programs, art collectors workshops and awards college scholarships in Morris County and the surrounding community.
Previous exhibitions have included works by major living artists like Elizabeth Catlett, Benny Andrews, former visual arts director for the National Endowment for the Arts, and Thomas Arthur Malloy, Artist Laureate of Trenton, New Jersey. Other established artists, several of whom reside in New Jersey, are annual contributors to the exhibitions and are sought after for the high quality of their work. These include Russell Murray, curator of Art in The Atrium exhibitions, Marian Howard, Janet Taylor Pickett, Leroy Campbell, Gladys Barker Grauer, Alonzo Adams and Bisa Washington.
Viki Craig, who with her husband, Attorney Charles Craig, is a founder of Art in The Atrium, Inc., said, Â?The response to our annual exhibits has really been phenomenal and it is the real motivation and driving force that keeps us doing what we have fun doing, even though putting on quality exhibits is hard work.Â?
Honorary Co-Chairs for the 12th Annual Art in The Atrium exhibit are Esther Silver-Parker, AT&T Foundation and Wanda Webster Stansbury, Management Interventions, Inc. Art in The Atrium Directors and Host Committee are Arthur and Jackie Bolden, Charles and Viki Craig, Walter and Lynn Goodwin, Linda Harley, Russell Murray and Mirian Graddick-Weir of AT&T.

ItÂ?s a unique, one stop show filled with the latest information about boomers, a generation thatÂ?s expected to double in the next 20 years.
The Host of the show, Mark Alyn, is the voice of the Baby Boomer generation. He has been a successful broadcaster for over 25 years on Southern California radio as well as nationally syndicated networks. Mark has interviewed celebrities such as Leslie Nielson, Bob Barker, Monte Hall, Morey Amsterdam, Milton Berle, Billy Barty, Shelly Winters and Mr. Artichoke and many outstanding authors such as Chaim Potok and Burt Preluksty.

On the lighter side, comedian Sandy Hackett will Talk the Talk straight from the Las Vegas Entertainment Scene. Buddy HackettÂ?s gene pool has produced Sandy, who is an outstanding talent and the next generation Hackett. He honed his comedic skills on the famed Casaba stage of the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas.
Need a little help organizing, or streamlining your life? Linda Koopersmith, the organizer for the Style Networks TV show Clean House, also known as the Beverly Hills Organizer, will be on hand to share her innovative tips.
John Harper, owner and president of station WMEL located in Melbourne, Florida states, Â?Encore Living meets the wants and needs of the graying population of America. The topics and overall focus is a natural for any talk radio show targeting the 35 plus market.Â?
Broadcast consultant, Valerie Geller of Geller Media International, states, Â?The baby boomers are aging, but NO baby boomer thinks he, or she is “old.” Time marches on and people in their 50s, 60s and beyond are not traditionally served by mainstream media. The media darlings have been the 25-54 demographic with an emphasis on the younger end of the demo.
Â?However, with 70 million plus baby boomers coming up, facing all the problems of aging bodies, aging parents, bodies breaking down, health care, insurance, financial worries, kids growing up, facing college, leaving the nest etc., there is a plethora of content that is simply NOT being covered. I am glad to see that older listeners will be offered quality programming.”
Broadcast consultant, John Darin of John Darin and Associates, states, Â?I’ve known Mark Alyn for over 30 years and he has always been in the forefront of creative broadcasting and marketing. Mark has the vision for a mature population and a vision their needs as it relates to specific information relevant to their lifestyle.
Â?The essence of Encore Living captures the mature lifestyle in a way that’s listenable and extremely appealing to that demographic group. So much programming today is skewed toward the young market and the boomer segment of the population is very much overlooked.Â?
With Encore Living, youÂ?ll discover why the US business-busting demographic shifts and skills shortages have convinced some organizations that the smart move is to recruit and retain workers over 50 as they rethink their approach to employee recruitment, training, benefits and motivational challenges.
Encore Living takes you BEYOND THE FANTASY as it explores an entrepreneurial trend that will intensify as more baby boomers reach their 40s and 50s. An ever increasing number of boomers leave traditional jobs for self-employment challenges that offers a financial and lifestyle transition into retirement or semi-retirement.
Whether youÂ?re searching for exotic vacations with a zesty edge of excitement…ways to reinvent your life…asset protection…sex and romance at any age…or a perfect toy for that special niece, grandchild, or even yourself…then you can’t afford to miss Encore Living Radio!
